Good Day Naturopathic Doctors of Massachusetts!
Here is an update from MSND covering these last few months – take a look …
I’m happy to say we are moving ever closer to our active license. As you all know our bill was signed into law last January by Governor Charlie Baker. That signing basically granted us the permission to create a license. The steps for this process are many – beginning with sitting the board that will govern our license. We now have five people approved by the Department of Public Health ready to serve as our governing board.
The language that stated our license would be active September of 2017 only meant that our board would be allowed to first meet in September of 2017. This has caused some confusion – but rest assured, we are moving forward. We are hoping for an actual activation of our license to be next summer, depending on how things play out with our board. See our governing board members below –
Public Member: Maria Delvento Maccario
MD: Michelle Dosset MD, MPH, PhD
NDs: Paul Herscu ND, MPH & Anne Francis Hardy ND, L.Ac
Clinical pharmacologist: Mattia Migliore RPH, PhD
Our board has met and will continue to meet regularly – right now, they are working on the rules and regulations which will determine exactly what our license allows us to do. Also, to be determined will be the requirements needed to apply for and maintain a MA ND license. Such details as; continuing education, testing requirements, cost of the license itself, as well as countless other details that will manage and govern our license. Thank you, board members, for stepping up and taking on this responsibility.
Our website, MSND.org, is getting a total make-over… actually it’s under demolition now with a totally new site coming soon. We are working with the web designers NDAccess Web Service. These folks work closely with naturopathic doctors and have designed websites for other state associations. Current members will receive an email from NDAccess explaining how to create a password, and account for the new website. Members will have space to write descriptions about their practice, choose from an extensive list of conditions, as well as listing an area of expertise. I’m pretty excited about this upgrade – it is long in coming. Your patience is much appreciated.
New Hampshire November conference
We the MSND will again have a table at the NHAND conference this year. I am looking for people who would be willing to take 30min spots at the table during vendor breaks to represent Massachusetts, to sell our notecards and magnets of Rosie the Riveter (see below), and of course, take donations. Dr. Amanda Tracy is coordinating the schedule for table volunteers – please contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a shift. Thanks Amanda!
Annual Meeting 2018
For the last few years, we’ve had our annual meeting in Sturbridge, MA in the month of May. Please keep this in your calendar – we will determine an exact date soon.
